Projects
We are dedicated to supporting campus-wide knowledge of electronic portfolio use within SF State, the broader CSU community, as well as national research efforts through collaboration, experimentation, outreach, and sharing.
If you are interested in learning more about any of these projects, or how to use ePortfolios in your courses, programs, or college: Contact eport@sfsu.edu
ePortfolios in the CSU
The CSU ePortfolio Project is a community of members – CSU faculty, staff, administrators – that share a common interest in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning through the use of ePortfolios. SF State has been recognized as an ePortfolio Center of Excellence in within the CSU.
Within MERLOT there is an ePortfolio Portal with helpful information, learning materials and networking options related to ePortfolios.
National/International ePortfolio Research
The Inter/National Coalition for Electronic Portfolio Research convenes research/practitioners to study the impact of ePortfolios on student learning and educational outcomes. Each year ten institutions selected through an application process constitute a three-year cohort. Each campus works on an individual project that asks "What learning is taking place as a function of electronic portfolios?" and "How do we know?" SF State has played an active role since 2006 in this Coalition effort.
AAC & U VALUE (Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education) Project
AAC&U is conducting a research and campus-based initiative designed to make the essential learning outcomes central to the educational experience. SF State has been chosen as a Leadership Campus for our work with ePortfolios.
The project will generate leadership, recommendations, examples of best practices and curricular designs, and an assessment framework, all designed to build campus capacity to:
- articulate the aims and importance of the essential learning outcomes;
- intentionally foster their achievement across the curriculum; and
- use cumulative assessments, especially e-portfolios, to both measure student progress and improve practices for achieving these outcomes.
The Digital Teaching & Learning Consortium
